Beacon Class

Beacon Class is named to represent the development of the spark that begins in our younger children. As they grow and progress through the school, this spark is nurtured into a beacon, ready to shine and carry on into the world beyond Welford and Wickham.

We are a mixed class of Year 4, 5 and 6 children. We learn together as a whole class, as well as working in smaller, adult-led groups where appropriate, helping every child to make progress throughout their junior years.

Alongside our core learning in maths, reading, writing and spelling, we enjoy a rich and varied curriculum including History, RE, French, Geography, Art, DT, PSHE, Computing, PE and Science.

As the oldest children at Welford and Wickham, we also encourage our Beacon children to become increasingly independent and confident, to challenge themselves and to play an active role in the wider life of our school.
